The Photonics Engineering Group (GIF) at the University of Cantabria has over 30 years of experience in the development of applied optical and electronic technologies. Since 1991, we have specialized in fiber optic sensors, advanced instrumentation, and imaging systems for process monitoring in a wide range of sectors, including civil engineering, energy, and the environment.

Evolving with current challenges, we have consolidated a strong line of research in the biomedical field. As members of CIBER-BBN and Valdecilla Health Research Institute (IDIVAL), we transfer our technical expertise to the healthcare sector to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic devices, while maintaining active collaboration with industry.
