Photonic Engineering Group

The Photonic Engineering Group (GIF) at the University of Cantabria has over 30 years of experience in the development of applied optical and electronic technology. Since 1991, we have specialised in fibre optic sensors, advanced instrumentation, and imaging systems for process monitoring across a wide range of sectors, including civil engineering, energy, and the environment.

Evolving alongside current challenges, we have built a strong research line in the biomedical field. As members of CIBER-BBN and the Valdecilla Health Research Institute (IDIVAL), we apply our technical expertise to the healthcare sector to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic devices, while maintaining active collaboration with industry.
